Future Development Projects
1. Septic System Upgrade
The current system was designed for a smaller number of visitors. With increasing attendance during Sunday services, retreats, and large events such as Vesak, Ullambana Day, and Mid-Autumn Festival, the monastery must improve the septic system to ensure it can safely and efficiently support the growing community.
This upgrade will help the monastery:
• Meet city and environmental regulations
• Support larger gatherings and community events
• Improve sanitation and safety for all visitors
• Prepare the monastery for future development and expansion
A properly upgraded septic system is a foundational step that allows the monastery to responsibly expand parking area.
Project Goal: $150,000
All donations toward this project will be dedicated to engineering, installation, and environmental compliance requirements.
2. Parking Expansion &
New Entrance
A new parking area with a dedicated entrance and exit from 188 Street and 80 Avenue is planned to better accommodate visitors and improve traffic flow.
The current parking area in front of the Buddha Hall and residential building will be transformed into a serene spiritual landscape, including Zen gardens, a bell tower, and a drum tower — allowing the temple grounds to fully reflect its sacred atmosphere.
This project will also enhance safety, by reducing vehicle movement in areas where the community gathers, walks, and practices.
Project Goal:
All donations toward this project will be dedicated to engineering, installation, and environmental compliance requirements.
3. Indoor Kitchen & Dining Hall
Currently, the monastery’s kitchen and dining area are located outdoors, creating challenges for volunteers and visitors—especially during colder seasons and for seniors.
In addition, the kitchen relies on temporary propane gas systems, which present fire safety concerns and are not suitable for long-term use.
Phap Hoa Monastery plans to build an indoor kitchen and dining hall with proper facilities, ventilation, and fire-safe cooking systems to ensure a safer and more reliable environment.
This project will support our Sunday vegetarian meals, community gatherings, and cultural events in a space that is comfortable, safe, and welcoming.
Project Goal:
All donations toward this project will be dedicated to engineering, installation, and environmental compliance requirements.
